Go behind the scenes with the artists in HYPERCLAY: Contemporary Ceramics!

Produced by Object: Australian Design Centre, HYPERCLAY investigates the field of ceramics, focusing on new attitudes, techniques and technologies that are being embraced by artists in the 21st century. This is the digital catalogue that was produced in conjunction with the exhibition, housing a collection of 35 short videos, interviews and texts.

HYPERCLAY contains over two hours of video content; please use a WiFi connection to download the app.

The exhibiting artists - Walter Auer, Roderick Bamford, Stephen Bird, Jacqueline Clayton, Andrea Hylands, Addison Marshall, Pip McManus and Paul Wood - are all forging new pathways in Australian ceramics. From rapid prototyping, to re-fired found objects and digitally rendered decoration, their use of clay is bold and inventive, exploring new modes of practice for contemporary artists.

This App includes interviews with the artists in their studio discussing the process and inspiration behind their work in HYPERCLAY. Short commentaries from ‘experts’ and ‘students’, provide many different perspectives on the exhibition, as well as a deeper, richer connection to the artists.

Don’t miss the ‘International Perspective’ video in the ‘Additional Materials’ section of the App. For this piece, Object invited four acclaimed international curators to select and comment on artists who they believe are doing some of the most exciting work with ceramics. Their choices will inspire you!
